The last campaign I played on was in the southern part of the Forgotten Realms. I only stayed for 4 sessions though, the DM freaked me out. He didn't exactly look like a hallmark of mental sanity with the long curled finger nails and convoluted speech.

I've created my own world as far as the setting goes, but use races, classes, items, monsters, magic, etc. from Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dragonlance, and Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed.

I'd like to get a look at Darksun or Greyhawk. But to tell you the truth I'm not sure I've ever seen 3rd edition material for those worlds. I'm only assuming there is some out there. I haven't really looked.

We're creating characters for my "new" campaign world this friday.

In the past I've always been partial to Forgotten Realms. I always liked the setup and the wealth of background information.

I know for a fact that there are some Greyhawk books out there that describe a bit of the setting. I can't remember any of the names but my friend's dad has them. From what I have read, there are going to be no books for Dark Sun. They had a Dragon Magazine pretty much devoted to it and from what I hear that is where it ends.

Personally, I like to make my own campaign worlds with stuff from all of the resources I have, ranging from Oriental Adventures to Greyhawk to Ghostwalk to ... . Some of the countries and people in the worlds I will get from movies (i.e. in one of my campaigns I use Maximus Decimus Burillus (cheese points if you can name the movie)), books (i.e. I have also made an NPC very much resembling Dumbledore), or actual our world history (i.e. the country that the players are currently in in one of my campaigns is very similar to the ancient Persian empire under Cyrus and Darius).

My own homebrewed campaign setting. I'm working on putting it online, but it's pretty slow going what with two jobs and going to school full time... You can see what little I do have up at http://rintaran.klaporte.com

I use the maps and some general pieces of information for Greyhawk for my campaigns... been using it since 1e. Most of the content is homegrown, however, or borrowed from lots of different sources and then modified.

I actually have a ship captain I named Darius in my world. I came up with the name "on the fly" and it was more inspired by your use of the name as an internet handle than the actual historic figure.

As for the character, well I modled him from Captain Deudermont from the R. A. Savatore Dritzz novels. Although with the desicions the pcs have made since their last voyage, they probably won't be seeing him any time soon.

Just out of curiousity, is that where you got the name, Darius?

most of my canpaigns revolve around using the word black as much as possible in the description of pretty much everything...also regardless of what I base the campaign on, gnomes always rock flying ships with canons...ALWAYS!

on that note I've only ever seen one person play a gnow, and they didn't like it

Awesome! My RP charactor is a sorcerer, but a gnome is looking very appealing...

Mine is a totally homebrew campaign. Mostly out of laziness I just stick with standard races and classes (minus Monk, Druid, and Barbarian) It has 4 major areas. One based on the Roman Empire at the height of its power, another based on the Athenian Empire at the height of its power, one based on the English colonization in America, and one based on the American Old West. Other points of interest include a place I just sorta made up and Port Royal.
