I come across something I never even noticed when I used to come here, last year: the PbP forums. I started following them, like Red's Saltmarsh Stories, and it seems such a shame for it to have ended prematurely.

Basically, what I'm asking is is if anyone would be intrested in starting up another PbP game ?

Of course, the fact that I can't find anyone within 60 miles of my home in the least bit intrested in playing DnD may be a quite a large reason for hoping of starting a group here. :)

I might be interested. Can you provide more details on what your thinking of (ie ruleset)? I've never done a pbp before, this could be fun.
Go ahead, throw the stone. Now watch it disappear.

Was thinking of a 3.5 ruleset, but not completly sure I want to DM, as, in all my sketchings of campaigns and plots, I've never really finalized everything :D

I'd be willing to give it a shot. It's been ages since I could just be a player and leave the footwork to someone else. Post a game summary and PC creation guide in the Finding Players forum, and I'll make something up.

The biggest problems with PBP games are both based on response time.

1) Differing response rates: If one player can check the boards six times a day, but another can only do it when they get home, the first is going to react six times as often. You have to be willing to step in and ask that the first let others react, or else they'll run off with the game.

2) Keeping the group moving: Sometimes, real life happens. In the past four PBP games I've been in, players dropout right when their response is most needed thanks to real life happenings. Or in some cases, they just forget.

So, make those part of your writeup. Tell your players you expect them to read the game once a day, and don't be afraid to take silence as "I'm doing nothing". Put it in this light --- a player in a tabletop game will usually give you the courtesy of knowing when they're not going to make it, and the DM runs their character in the meantime. If the folks are going to be away for more than a couple of days, they should say so in advance so the DM doesn't wait for a response.

Yeahh, I can see the problems associated with PbPing, but I think it would still be worthwhile. I haven't DMed or played in about.. 8 months or so, so I hope I won't destroy this completly. May take a marginally longer time to get a write-up, asI have essays to write today, and, of course, the post of DM is still negotiable. (<.<)

I know what you mean about life being busy. I can't volunteer to DM for the same reason, what with school, work, church, 2 kids, DMing 3.5 and playing 1st edition w/ my home group. I've been looking over some of the pbp, and it looks like fun (a lot more RP than my home group does. They're very much hack-n-slash).
Go ahead, throw the stone. Now watch it disappear.

Raven, I'll assume youu mean the Gamers seeking Gamers forum, so I shall write it up there. Feel free to slap me with the silly stick if I'm mistaken.

Hopefully, I'll be able to balance the hack 'n' slash with RP, but.. with majority towards RP, simply becase I so badly miss roleplaying.

I've got the charactor creation guide set up, I'll put it on the forums in a sec, I just need to finalize the backstory of the world and the 'why are we here, and why is there a gleaming knight in front of us holding a scroll saying "help wanted"?'.

EDIT: Sorry, that's wrong, I'll post them together when I have finished the backstory, but, seeing as I'm up till roughly 4am today, it'll get done.

Count me in as a player; I tend to visit the boards pretty regularly, even if most of my posts aren't visible to the world at large.

Can't DM it; I've got one active game that I've had issues finding the mental energy at the end of the day to fully flesh out and make interesting this past month, and one that was on hiatus 'til my kitchen approached "done".

Cool, Cuilean.

The Setup and backstory of the world is up and running on the 'Gamers seeking Gamers' forum (which is hopefully the correct one.)

I'm DMing afterall :)
