Alright. here's something new that i wanna try. let's assume that we all lived in the DnD world and that this world had unlimited resources as far as magic and materials are concerned. now assume that you stumbled upon a treasure chest with a note in the box that said:
"This is Mardok's Magical Money Machine. Place your request for any piece of armor, weaponry, or other such item worth at most 100,000 gold."
what 100,000 gp item would you ask for. remember that you can go strictly from the items in the books, but that you can also customize them based on the rules given in the books.

Well that kinda sucks because you can't even get a +10 sword outta the deal. I would most likely want the Censor of Air Elemental Control because one of my characters has one and I love using that thing. So useful in so many different situations.

hmm... well in that case, lets double it. the new money limit is now 200,000 gp. and be creative.

I would ask for an amulet of the planes if it was 100k. If it was 200k I would get a luck blade. (both items can be found in DMG)

I'd get 2 iron golems or 1 really big iron golem that I could live inside. (just 1 room, I don't ask for much )

If I could make my own item it Would be a combo of Wings of flying a ring of improved invisibility and a rod of empowered maximized fireballs...I would call it The Harness of the Stealth Bomber, even though people would have no concept of what a stealth bomber is

A third choice would be an Iron Flask...traping a balor in a bottle appeals to me.

you've got a thing for big golems, i like that. ever read the Epic Level Handbook? they have things called colossus's, i think you'd like them.

mmmmmmmm i like i like...my greatest achievement was the construction of a huge stone golem the size of a fort, myself and 9 other mages lived in it and brought terrible havoc down upon the planes casting from its shoulders (*tear*and so goes the Order of the Black Heart) i tried to build a second one but it bankrupted me and my own mercenaries tore it to pieces and sold it off to get paid...mass charm will only go so far

seriously though the most useful items I have ever owned have been the 3.0 wings of fying, slipers of spider climb and a headband of ferrocity. Those 3 items have saved my sorcerers butt on may occasions (that and a plentiful supply of scrolls and wands with random spells that you only seem to need once in a blue moon, one would be surprised at how diverse the uses of unseen servant can be in the right situations)

the iron flask at 170k seems to be in my opinion the coolest single item in the dmg anyhoo

They also have Stone and Flesh colossus's as well as Adamantium and Mithril Golems. and this freaky thing that has 100 arms, all wielding greatswords and can attack 100 times per round with a +71 to hit and 70 AC. it's like a big blender. drop it on an army of orcs and you've got your self a nice orcy smoothy. you might want to add some lemons in there though to enhance the flavor.

Probably a magic music box... that know each and every single melody from all the world... able to play for a vast auditory... I want it made in silver, platinum and moonstones... with a glance of energy in it ... big as a dragon's head but rectangular... No mecanism inside that make dance a statue (or a golem, huh woe? ) ... but I would prefer spectres or phantom ... much like an illusion of people dancing, sorrowing or playing the tune... yep that's what I would love ....
