If you were a lv48 wizard you could have used a bunch of rock to mud spells to make you way threw the underground. Then use a a timestop spell to grab the neckalce and use a ring of teleport spell to get your party out with our hitch and no casualtys. you could have also reformed the walls as you go and make a fake of the kings necklace just in case.

Spells/day doesn't increase after 20th remember, I was adding only his additional bonus spells from a high Int. At 21st with no bonus, I would have 4 of each level. At 48th level, that's 96 10-ft cubes. Not forgetting that the mud has to have somewhere to go, Castles are noted as being immune to tunneling by this because of their foundations.

On topic please?

one session that did not go well was one where we were negociating with a powerful npc, several levels abouve us (between 9 and 17 depending on the PC) and one of our PCs said "I attack him" I said "I stand back and watch him being beaten up"

Admittedly that was a few sessions after you said "I hide under the table"

I wonder why no one has mentioned TND here. I think it was a very cool plan...

I think even the PETA would have qualms with the idea of a Tactical Nuclear Donkey

My worst laid out plans was wen me (a lvl 1 human cleric) and my m8s both lvl 1 1 a elven rouge and ther other a human sorcerer entered a room that was occupied by 4 goblins i went in first and went 1 space infront of the corner the rougue in the corner and the sorcerer went to the rouges right.
the goblins sourounded us 1 infront of me 1 to my right and infront of the sorcerer 1 behind it and 1 to the right of the 1 i just described.
that ment that the rouge couldnt atak and the gobos got a +2 flanking bonus in the end i got noked out and was on -1 hitpoints the rouge still couldnt fite and the sorcerer was left with not but his short spear.......
by the way we did win and i was heeld by the unconcious unicorn that was in the corner to our rite!

My entire party needed to break into the King's castle in broad daylight to steal an enchanted necklace from around his neck. We all decided that we would simply march in swords drawn, banner flying, and kill anything or anyone that moved as it showed up. At the time, this was a great idea,

The thing we overlooked though, was the fact that my wizard at the time was Level 48, and everyone else was, at best, level 6...

Still, I, at least, managed to get the necklace :P

Once our party (3rd level) had to meet with a ship captain in a waterfront tavern. A swaggering first mate and his drunken shipmates who sailed on a rival ship to the one the captain sailed iniatiated a brawl. Now, the law enforcement in this port is notoriously lax about these kind of things, as long as no weapons are drawn, at which point they tend to get overly violent. The ship captain warned us of this and offered to reduce his rates if the party would wade into the brawl to help his crew. The fighter and the monk smiled broadly at each other and prepared to show the scurvey dogs a real fight while my cleric/mage prepares to start casting bless and bull's strength, endurance etc on everyone.
Very first round the thief with ADD whips out his bow and opens fire from the balcony. People go screaming out of the bar and before the rest of us can react, the whole bar is against us with weapons drawn. Two rounds later, the watch shows up and proceeds to sort everything out with their swords and crossbows. In the end, four of both ships crews (including the ship captain we met with) and two of our party members were killed (thankfully one was the theif), another imprisioned for five years for murder. My character (only) escaped because of a rope trick scroll everyone insisted was a waste of money.
