Core races? Human or Gnome. I don't know what I have for Gnomes, I just love being one. Humans, though... Bonus feat! Yay!

Races from Monster Manual... probably Aasimar is my favorite. I don't know why.

Oriental Adventures? Nezumi, no question. Too bad their lifespans are so short.

And of my own invention, I like Felins (catpeople... I posted them here, but it hasn't been reviewed by the site people yet).

This is very difficult for me.. it usually comes down to

Drow: Rogue, or Wizard

Dwarf: Fighter or Cleric (of Moradin) ("Get back ye stinkin' long-fanged foul-smellin' creation o' darkness!") *fighting back a vampire* *smacks with warhammer* "EH? EH? How do ye like THAT ye pale-skinned albino-orc-brained rat-eater!" *strange figure stands, rising out of a coffin* The Dwarf sighs, "It's a vampire, or I'm a bearded gnome."

-coughs-

Other than that.. hmm..

I played a Human Ranger once.

I've been wanting to play a Human Paladin, as well.

I like humans for their versatility, gnomes cause i think theyre just plain cool and tieflings (random dice version not monster manual version)
The most worthless line of any RPG book EVER:

Humans suck period. Can't say much more than that.
We are the scourge of the underdark...
We are the saviours to our kind...
We are the devout...
We are the enlightened...
We are the true rulers by right...

We are Drow...
Beware us...

I don't know, humans have seemed to heve held their own for a long time. Even in DnD, humans seem weak and pathetic, but are actually quite powerful when they use their advantages to full effect.

But, personally, I play templated characters. An elf-half dragon monk is a fearsome thing, especially with beast claws from Savage Species. :D

Humans? Suck? What?

I mean, yeah, I can see that they get very few special abilities, but they're just so versatile! I mean, a whole extra skill if you max out as many as you can, and an extra first-level bonus feat... that's really not bad.

Depends on the campaign setting and the DM.

Core: Human, usually druid or ranger

FR: Tiefling, rogue or fighter

Nonstandard: Oolala.....red half dragon half orc barbarian? or maybe just a straight up imp sorcerer (DM allowing of course).
This technique of RPG playing has been passed down the Bloodmooon line for generations!

How can you have a half orc, half dragon? Isn't the half orc half human and half orc? So, it would have to have three halves....

I personally like Drow and Illithids, even though I've never actually played and Illithid. My favorite though is probobly the basic halfling.

I like just about any race. Sometimes i like to experiment with different mixes. Half-Orcs are fun but tend to be ignored. One of the most powerful characters i have made is a half-orc. Humans are powerful. And they are very balanced. They aren't single tilted to any side attribute wise. Their bonus to feats and skills is a great benifit to any class. They also take no penalties to multiclassing.

Roleplaying wise, humans aren the funnest. Halflings and dwarves give roleplaying options. Elves are typically roleplayed the same which end up being boring. Occasionally elves can be roleplayed well. Gnomes are quite tough to roleplay. How will you roleplay him? A very smart inventor with a very proper speech or will the gnome be a crazed lunatic that enjoys playing pranks on the locals.

See, I don't understand why Half-Orcs seem to be so underutilized.

Actually, Humans take the same penalties for multiclassing as any other creature. Its just that their first class (or highest, depending on DM) is considered their favored class. A human Ftr7/Wiz4/Clr1 takes the same penalties as an elf Ftr7/Wiz4/Clr1.
