I myself said other. The charactar generator i use is inside a program called DM Genie. It has all the nitty-gritty stuff or if ur a beginer or you dont want to spend the time you can go wit defaults. Comparing the char. gen. in Dm Genie with redblade, redblade is really weak and water-downed. But that's just my opinion.

I have just downloaded both of them and i have to say that redblade is by far the better of the 2 ( PCGen being the other)

the interface is clear you do not have to load parts you need, you can use redblade without looking for the instu. to know what you have to do.
the bad thing about it is that the character sheet is poor

There is no computer-aided generator that could have created Thorn. At least, not for D&D.

I voted for other, just because I'm a cranky twit that feels we should still be bashing at character sheets with rocks, and taking whatever the result is. Not that I would ever do that.

PCGen (even the new version) still requires a lot of power to run. That may have a good deal to do with it.

I voted for E-Tools.

I found Redblade to be more user friendly than PCGen and it doesn't require near the power to run, but you could do so much more with PCGen.

When it comes to E-Tools, if its not published by WotC you have to enter it in as your own creation. Where as with PCGen you can get many other d20 source materials including Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed.

However, I like the layout of E-Tools and believe it to be user friendly. As a player I used to go ahead and roll up my characters the manual way, I really started becoming aquaited with the generators as a DM. They make rolling up npcs easier and a bit quicker. Of course by the time I actually use it to roll them up, I already have thier personality and description as well as thier role in the campaign sketched out (in my head at the least).

If anyone liked Hero Workshop but never wanted to shell £19.99 for it, then you might be interested to know that it is now only £4.99
