Hey everyone,

With the wiki down, I've decided to put down my (along with Raven's) campaign work notes here on the site. Firstly so we can have a place to share on the internet, as well as gather imput from people on the site, should they choose to do so.

Here we go!

Town of Acre

Population ~275

Government: Town Council that meets once a week. 7 members. (Consisting of 3 Eldest, 3 largest landowners, 1 Spiritual Leader)
Elder1- Woman. Widow, old and cantankerous, wise.
Elder2- Man. Old War vet, good at managing, thinks PC's are trouble makers.
Elder3- Man. New to council, nervous, un-opinionated.
Owner1- Woman. Old money inherited from husband, polite, has a temper.
Owner2- Male. Recently moved in and staked out a large farm claim. Hopes to bring new blood to village, ambitious.
Owner3- Male. Patriarch of largest family in Acre, usually slants votes to work out for his family, slightly snooty.
Spiritual Leader- Calm and even tempered, knows everyone, portly.

Structure: Town is on hilltop surrounded by outlying farms. This increases irrigation as well as defense.
Approx. 24 houses/dwellings. Furnace and Kiln building. Small stage, wrestling ring, and alter are present. There is grain storage, as well as a stable for donkeys.
The town well is constantly supplied with fresh water, presumably from the worship of the local water spirit, (although most water is drawn from the river itself).

Means: Acre produces enough to sustain itself as well as a ~10% surplus, and has stored enough to survive should one harvest fail. There is roughly 350 denarii floating around Acre, as most trading is done through bartering.

Contact: Acre recieves traveling traders usually once per season. Usually one or two men with a donkey. A trading caravan comes through annually after the harvest to buy surplus to sell to nearby cities.

Defense: Acre has some small shields, spears, and light armor available. These are hand-downs from a previous generation that had gone to war. Few members of Acre have had combat experience. A handful have the Warrior NPC class.

Just to toss up my main contribution from a mechanical point of view, here is the equipment for Age of Destiny.

Very interesting stuff so far. I especially like the new equipment, though I'm wondering what exactly 1dX/magic DR means... does this mean that they subtract a die roll from damage taken or what? How will this mechanic deal with magic weaponry if/when they show up (surely not all armors will become meaningless with the advent of a +1 ____)?

1dX/magic means damage reduction where the amount of damage reduction is variable. For example, 1d2/magic will absorb an average of 1.5 points of damage from nonmagical physical attacks. Damage reduction of 1d4+2/magic would absorb anywhere from 3 to 6 points of damage with a mean of 4.5.

One main thing we are going with is that magic is very rare. Much more in line with Arthurian legend, Greek myth, and other common fantasy settings, magic items are virtually nonexistant outside of the sphere of the gods, and those who practice magic are indeed quite rare themselves. So to answer your second question, yes. Nonmagical armor is meaningless when faced with a magic weapon. But even a +1 spoon would be legendary.

The lack of magic weapons is somewhat made up for with the materials rules and also of masterwork items. Those just can't bypass damage reduction.

Another note worth mentioning. Some armors look significantly worse than others, such as leather adn tin breastplates. It is worth mentioning that the main difference here is durability. It is far easier to sunder a leather breastplate than a tin one. Because this setting is low magic, most combat will revolve around more tactical and strategic decisions, so I thought this would be one nice way to reward players who remember that there is more you can do wtih an attack action than stab someone in the face.

Hey Raven, you say you've done some mapping.

I'd like to expand in a general direction, do you have any personal preference?

I'll head East for now. I'm making maps on a scale of 500 ft x 400 ft, at present, but only because of your game. I'll make proper overland maps at some point, I suppose. Heh.
