Better not kill Meinard off. Because I just might be tempted to do it. Then again, I still want to make that polka-obsesed gnomish bard with an accordian...

Shudder...

Anyway, other showstopper cantrips anyone can think of? I can think of some ways to maybe make read magic a way to kill off a quest in 30 seconds flat, but beyond that I'm short on ideas in the department.

Hmm...a bard that plays the saw could break out of a prison campaign pretty quickly.

A proper application of Ghost Sound can convince someone he's insane. I can see monumental use for that...

And lord only knows what havoc prestidigitation can cause.

Oh... god... I had completely forgotten about good ol' prestidigitation...

We actually had a wizard in our campaign that would use that spell to incite all manner of chaos and mischief. And, as a naturally invisible pixie, put it to frequent and varied uses. Such as getting horses to throw their riders (by making stinging sensations on the horse), disrupting discussions with people he didn't like (don't ask), screwing with problem situations... yeah, that spell has a lot of derailing potential.

I saw a PC use Ghost Sound to keep scaring the crap out of the party as a joke. While they didn't catch on (nothing like a silenced spell), he coudl have easily screwed up the entire adventure.

Ghost sound is indeed very powerful when used right, a PC on a campaign of mine actually fooled a goblin patrol into a pit with it, since he spoke goblin.

That reminds me of a gnome bard npc I made... a rapper named "MM Cool G", he truly was obnoxious

Delay Poison + Drinking Games + Remove Poison = good times. And that, my friends, is how our druids spend their time when the party's stuck in town.

Sniper's Eye = no range limit on your next ranged sneak attack, as a swift action. You'd think that wouldn't be much trouble, but it's unbelievably annoying with a Rogue/Sorcerer sniper.

0-level spells are severely underestimated.

With some creative use, they can actually be quite effective, and I'm somewhat learning how to do that now that I'm playing in a campaign where I don't start with 1st level spells... Yeah, no magic missiles means I actually have to get creative. On the plus side, I don't have a limit to my cantrips, I just have to make a relevant skill check...

More on topic, however, that was definitely an epic story. I think it's pretty cool how your PCs managed to do that in all honesty though. Sometimes when the PCs manage to take the story in their own direction, things turn out more fun than they ever would have if they just followed your plot line.

Yeah, not having a plot really helped on that score.

Hahaha! That's the story of every successful RP session I've conducted.

I loved the story. One the great things about RPing is the ability for the players to steer the story in an unexpected direction (and yes, I know it is also one of the greatest annoyances). :)
Go ahead, throw the stone. Now watch it disappear.

... Mild detective-based campaign, the PCs in a pitch black room with the museoom curator, meant to be the adventure hook of a goblin rogue nicking the priceless (150,000gp) Greatsword of the Lost titan leaders of *insert mountainous tribal name*, Sorcerer passed his Listen check (Lucky [CHAIR]) and instantly cast 'Light' and then pointed at the Goblin, and said 'Pike Alert'..... There goes my 4 month planned adventure...
