I am Running a group

I have one player who has Dm'ed before playing a rogue...
a Sorceress
a Bard
and a Cleric

Ok for my first Brain storming of the other Dm's of this forum...
My Campaign is more Character driven then story driven

i want every player to have a drive behind them...

and so far it's been good though i need to give the bard and the cleric some help...
could anyone give me any ideas of decent Drive for a bard and a cleric ?

for example:

The rogue is the son of a High leveled spell caster who is the rival to the sorceress

If you can give me each character's background writups, I can probably pull a few possible motivations out of my Pink Floyd hat for you. Also, tell me more about your campaign setting. Environmental forces also provide a lot of impetous when discussing character's goals and motivations.

Well, character driven campaigns are nice, but they have to have a baseline motivation to work from. Giving plenty of character options and looking for a character-driven result is all well and good, but players rely on a foundation of setting and - generally - a DM hook based on the setting.

You'll need at least a basic premise of campaign details to get things rolling on this. You don't need a whole world, but you'll need at least some local history and dynamics to give your players something to work with on backstory. You, in turn, should rely on the resulting backstories to create a commonality between the party members.

Ok... Character backgrounds... or at least the ones i know at this time

Lycinda-Rose Windrunner: (Sorceress Lvl 3)
Married to Jai
Claims to be the Best Magic user in the land
Bested a High Magic user by cheating
Has a psudeodragon ( Which is really a transformed Bronse dragon)

Jai Windrunner: NPC or more tot he point My Character who levels with the party
(Bloodhound Lvl 3 <Ranger X Rogue> My made up class)
married to Lycinda-rose

Rychan D'leese: ( Rogue Lvl 3)
Son of the Magic user Lycinda Cheated out of the title of Best magic user in the land
Kick out of the magic school for possessing no magical talent

Riodan O'Dhanill: ( Bard Lvl 2)

ENVIRONMENT

I have a vague map drawn up of the whole first continent

um... not sure what you wanted to know really about the environment

the Calendar year is 14 months two of the months are only 13 days

one of the 13 day months is called 'the fading' where the gods equal out the magic and damage done and become mortal
and magic itself is highly unstable

I don't mean natural environment. What is the society like? What is the local culture like? What organizations are there? What threats are there? What is the local political environment like? What is the national political environment like? What is the economic environment like? etc. Those are the things that set the tone for a setting and also provide more plot hooks than you know what to do with. Also, we'd need more information on your characters' histories and personalitis than that. I know you're just starting, but this is the sort of stuff that can make or break a game. The more depth you have (even if the players never see it) the better it comes off. More than that, it's how you build up a campaign world.

I think the eaiest solution is that the bard is from a family who realy don't go well with the cleric's believes. after all a cleric is a religious man and therefore many of his conflicts will be religious conflicts.

Once in a game I played in there was a CN cleric of kord while I played a CN warlock who warshiped arithnol. We where even the same alignment but we had terible religious conflict that could easily become a fight if I didn't save his life at an early stage of the adventure (my warlock was realy just using his cleric who was in a debt of life to my warlock). The other player was a CN barbarian who didn't care too much about the gods so it was an horrificly religious campain with major relious conflicts between the characters even though they all had the same alignment. It was realy realy fun.
I wish only only happiness, good luck and health to all of you.

Wow you have a lot of work ahead of you.
Have each character create a backround story for themselves. Give tham some guidlines for the world you are in. I like some of the breif description you wrote but you need much more. Try to get something from the group.
