Ah yes. the truly legendary creatures: the Lockness monster in scottland, the yetti in russia, bigfoot in the americas, and yet, these are the hardest to find in a DnD monster manual. too cliche perhaps? i dunno, just something to think about.

Already thought it over. Before making opening the topic actually.

The idea was inspired more from having read some of R. A. Salvatores earlier Drizzt books, than actual life ledgends, myths, etc.

I just liked the idea of giving the pcs something out of the ordinary. Two of the pcs are dms themselves, and I think it would be cool to throw something like this in 'cause it's not expected.

However, I would need to replace the cold subtype and replace the additional elemental damage (and of course it's fur would grant it the same hide bonus, just in corresponding terrain).

Do you have any ideas as to what I could substitue the elemental (cold) damage with?

Well... an easy way to do it could just be to change the subtype of the creature. For a forest yeti, it could have the earth subtype and give it some sort of a spell like stone shape or some straight up damage reduction (1/-). I wouldn't suggest giving it acid damage because that would be hard to explain.

Another thing you could do is give it a bite attack if it is able to grapple and if the bite hits the character it will take an extra 1d6 or so points of acid damage because this guy has corrosive saliva. This could be comparable to the rake attack that many cats get except it mostly uses its bite in a grapple.

*bows to the name of Salvatore* His books were one of the reasons that I got into hardcore DnD gaming. It is because of him that I was introduced to the greatness of DnD.

Same here. I've always found it amazing that on many of his books, his name is far bigger than the actual title.

Funny you should type that about the earth subtype. As I was going to bed last night those same thoughts accured to me. However I hadn't thought of the bite attack. Hmmm...
