Well, as a huge FR fan, and having a predisposition toward the goddess Shar, I was wondering if there are any Chosen of Shar templates floatin' about out there in the vast Internet? If so, might somebody here be so kind as to link me or demonstrate it for me? If not, I'd like to make one...anybody up to helping me?

Good question. I'm thinking there is one out there but I don't see it in any of my F.R. stuff.

Gimmie a few days, I wanna check w/ a friend. And that may take a bit, he just started a new job and has a hectic schedual now. If there is one published in any books, he'll know it.(And have it).

I know the chosen of Mystra get one heck of a con. boost. I'd hafta do some reading to refresh myself with Shar.

If my buddy can't find anything, I would be glad to help.

Alrighty. I'm going to do some research myself, and see if I can find anything. If not, I thankfully have the Faiths and Pantheons book, which should help me to create one.

If you ever find one or make a new one, you'll put it up on this topic or add it as a resource right? I love diety devoted prestige classes. I've got and epic level one for Moradin followers that i'm finalizing along with many others.

Well, it looks like we'll end up making one. The closest thing my buddy could find was a prestige class in the Deities F.R. book (sorry the name escapes me at the moment), it was the 3rd edition version.

Don't make it too uberly powerful. i hate player created classes witht he sole purpose of making their character the best. like one of our PCs who asked if he could create somthing called psionic rage inorder to make his psionic character more lethal. characters that need game alterations to be more powerful are the weakest of all kinds.

It would be interesting to see a template for the chosen of a goddess of assassains. Just make sure its balances with the Chosen of Mystra or Bane.

Yeah, once I get around to it...LOL. I have a Photography portolio due in a week, a Precalculus test to fret over, and all kinds of other school-related activities piled on top of my weekly D&D game...doesn't leave me a lot of time to work on this template, not to mention the uber-cool spell ideas I have to work on...but once I do get around to it, I'll definately keep that in mind. I'll most likely end up using the Chosen of Mystra template as, well, a template. LOL

I had done a similar search about 6 months ago.

Something you should know, SchizoDM, is that it's a template, not a class or PrC. Once a PC or NPC get its, they don't get anything beyond it.

I'll see if I can dig up my old results and repost them for you, dragonhand. I had created a template for Chosen of Nobanion, the LG god of wildbeasts, nobility, and such. Hopefully, it'll give you some ideas.

Creating a Chosen of Nobanion

"Chosen of Nobanion" is a template that can be added to any creature (referred to hereafter as the "character"). A Chosen of Nobanion uses the character's statistics and special abilities except as noted here. A Chosen of Nobanion only has its powers at the will of Nobanion, should the Lord of the Beasts decide to remove Chosen status from the character, he reverts to his original abilities. Given that Nobanion is a lesser Deity, there is generally only one Chosen of Nobanion at a time.

Special Qualities: A Chosen of Nobanion retains all special qualities of the character and also gains the following.

Bonus Spells (SP): Constant--Magic Circle against Evil, At will--Know Greatest Enemy, 5/day--War Cry, Cure Serious Wounds, Suggestion, Charm Monster, 1/day--Holy Star, Geas, Dominate Monster---All spell cast as per a Cleric of level 14, though the character may not spontaneously cast healing spells in place of other spells.

Damage Reduction (Ex): 10/Magic

Immunities: A Chosen of Nobanion is immune to aging effects and does not age. Bonuses still accrue, and the Chosen still dies of old age whin his time is up. A Chosen of Nobanion is immune to hunger and thirst, and all effects relating to them. A Chosen does not need to eat or drink and can exist indefinitely without food or water, though the character can eat or drink if he/she chooses.

Regeneration 3 The character takes normal damage from cold and acid.

Guardian Angel(Su): A Chosen of Nobanion can summon an Astral Deva a number of times per 10 day equal to twice his/her charisma bonus. The Astral Deva remains until dismissed or the Chosen is deceased. As per the spell Greater Planar Ally, the Deva expects payment or a favor of like difficulty as the task just completed.

Great Roar (Su):As per the spell Great Thunderclap, except that the character releases a roar like Nobanion's. This is a supernatural ability, useable a number of times per day as the character's wisdom modifier.

Natural Armor: The character gains a divine protection of natural armour +14 that stacks with any natural armor the character may posses.

Saves: Same as the character.

Abilities: Increase from the character as follows: Strength +2, Charisma +10.

Skills: Same as the character.

Feats: Same as the character.

Climate/Terrain: Same as the character.

Organization: Same as the character.

Challenge Rating: Same as the character +4.

Alignment: Always Lawful Good.

Treasure: Same as the character.

Advancement: Same as the character.

I haven't ever seen the chosen of Mystra template, but I would use it as a basis for designing the Chosen of Shar. Which is what I belive Xorlarrin42 is planning on doing.

Hey, what book did that Chosen of Mystra appear in? I just might actually have it.

whoops, i misread the template part. totally thought of it as a class.
