This is probably a really stupid question, but i've never really delved too deeply into Campaign Cartographer 2, and I am in need of a world map. So it has struck me that I need to ask this very important and really stupid question. How in the name of Hades do you crop a polygon with another polygon? There must be a way. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks anyway, Dthclaw. Maybe if we keep bumping it like this someone will notice and grant us the benefit of their knowledge?

here's the question: are you creating a world from scratch, or is this a previously hand-mapped world you are trying to put into CC2?
And by poygon inside of a polygon, what are you trying to do? Create a lake in the middle of a body of land?

Well, I have drawn out a world map already in CC2. At this point, I'd like to be able to crop it down to specific sections of the world map and enlarge them, so I can have only the specific region I want in the map and then select the entire thing adn scale it up so that I can, in essence, have zoomed in on it in a new map to place a higher level of detail. The map I currently have is scaled for an entire continent, and it would become overly cluttered, insanely slow to load, and impossible to view legibly if I put in stuff that would appear on a regional or national scale. Think of the maps in FR. They have a world map and then zoomed in maps of each region, like the Sword Coast or the Chuul. That's my goal, though I have hit a brick wall with it.
Another use, and I'm thinking about when I use to make Quake and Halflife levels here, is that it'd be nice to be able to use one polygon to cut away bits of other polygons. Like when you fractlize a continent and part of it ends up outside your 800 x 1000 unit box. Becaus as it stands, whenever I export it to a bitmap, it sizes it so that the entire polygo fits in the bitmap, even if I've blanke dit out with a white polygon. Yes, I actually did that. Please stop laughign at me.
Thanks a million for any suggestions you might have.

aah. cropping down a larger shape into a partial is tough, I remember my husband having fits trying to make a smaller map with just a portion of his campaign world. The instructions were in the initial CC2 manual, I recall. I'll check when I get home in the huge Tome of Ultimate Mapping, see if it gives instructions there. Another source of the answer would be the CC-L yahoo group.
as an FYI though, CC3 makes large scale mapping soooo much easier (need a forest? make a polygon of the area for your forest and fill with trees!), and it runs much faster too. Not sure how it handles cropping, as I haven't had to try it yet.

Thanks Lady. Sounds like CC3 is shiny. I might just need to invest in it.
