Hello all, just wanted to run you by my variant on Quickening Spells. I plan to use it when I start up a new campaign, and wanted to get some imput.
Quickening would work as follows:
A quicken'd spell uses up two slots of the spell level. Prepared casters must devote two slots to preparing it, and spontaneous casters obviously just use two slots.
Upon using the quickend spell, the caster cannot use another quickend spell until a number of rounds have passed equal to the level of the spell you just quickend. For example, if a Sorcerer quickens invisibility, he could not quicken another spell until 2 rounds have passed.
I did this because I wanted casters to be able to use quickening right off the bat, but I also did not want to break it. I think the cost and delay keeps it from being too overpowered. I think with the speed D&D combat goes, casters could get off a few extra low level spells or maybe one/two bigger spells.
Suggestions, critizisms, or feedback?

I'm prepared to passionately argue this point until nothing makes sense anymore!- RM
He who fights alone dies alone, but those who battle as brothers will live forever.

Who is to judge what is right and what is wrong? Great and powerful foes surround us; unknown miscreants gnaw at us from within. We are threatened with total annihilation. In days such as these we can afford no luxury of morality.

I like that a sorcerer can use it. Sorcerers always got the short end of the stick ont aht one, and while this costs a crapload in comparison to a lot of other metamagic feats, it could be worth it. The recharge rate is an interesting idea. Have you considered making any other metamagic feats rechargeables like this?
