No problem. If he decides to do it, he'll be able to code a good one together in short order.

Hi guys, just letting you know that the new version of the D&D Chat program is ready and is live. I have added the whiteboard into it so people can draw maps / images in there to help with the campaigns. There is also an auto updater in there so any future updates to the program will automatically be downloaded from the webserver. The program is in the same place as before. See you in there :)

Yo, Snakage. I like the addition of the whiteboard. The program seems to run fine for me, but for a couple of my players it keeps coming up with the following error:

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS CHAT caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff7b997.

This doesn't mean anything to me. But then, I'm not a programmer.

I've been looking for this kind of program for a while now. There aren't very many people around where I live that play D&D so the internet is pretty much the only way I can watch a game in progress :( . I would like to eventually get into Game Design, it's been just a hobby for 11 years but with little structure. I figured if I learn D&D rules well enough, then DM, I could gradually change the rules until they are a totally different set of rules. From there it would be easier to program, and run, a computerized version of the game.

My problem right now, that makes me turn to D&D, is that I have a very hard time keeping things down to a managable level of complexity. I continuously complecate the design, then simplify it, to make it useable. After a while I realized it would be better if I simply scrapped the whole thing and sought out a pre-made set of rules that I could springboard off of.

Sorry for the long explaination :D , I could have left it at "Thanks, I've been looking for this a while now".

Something maybe wrong with the download.

WinZip could not open the file, claiming that it (the file) is corrupted.

I tried downloading it a couple of different times.

After some tinkering, we managed to get it to run on the guy's WinXP Pro. But still no luck with the Win98SE user.

Also, the old versions can no longer find a server. We went to play on Saturday and discovered this. This led us to having to play via MSN or IRC... It was very uncomfortable. Until you can figure out why it won't run on Win98SE, do you think you can keep the older version runnable. Thanks!

Ahhh..., that might explain it.

I'm still running Windows '98.

I've had very much trouble downloading it, I finaly get it to download and the application isn't working. It keeps throwing up error codes.

It doesnt seem to like anything other than windows XP. You need the new Kernel32.dll file to be able to run it. Ill try and see if i can get it working on all OS's but that might mean that the rubber isnt useable which could cause quite a problem. As for running the old version, I could run it, but that would mean that you would all have to be running the old version in that game as the new version and old version dont work together. Ill have another look at it and see if i can sort something out.

Thanks Snakeage. I kept a copy of the old version just in case the new one didn't run well. Let me know when you think you've got the OS problem fixed and we'll try it again. Oh, and if its too much to run both servers (old & new) continuously, we only play on Saturdays, so it only has to be up then.

Many thanks! :D
