While brainstorming (for lack of a better word) for a new (to me) campaign setting I could terrorize my friends in, I decided to allow the Dragon Shaman from PHB II. Unfortunately, the campaign design is void of many types of dragons. Therefore, I can't use the class straight out of the book.

So.

I am inquiring to anyone out there to help me form variant dragon totems for the class or, if they do in fact already exist somewhere, give me a link. Gem dragon (from MMII) totems would fit the campaign, but more is better, right?

Apon looking through the Races of the Dragon, and scouring that wonderful chart of just about every half-dragon combination possible, I've figured out most of what I need. The bonus class skills granted by each totem, however, will still prove to be difficult. Since no normal dragon shaman has Sonic or Force as a breath weapon type, and because many spells with those descriptors do less damage than the same spell of a standard energy type (a la "Orb of" spells), I decided that breath weapons of those types use d4s instead of d6s for damage, which may or may not be a good move.

What do you guys think? Any assistance is appreciated, I assure you.

Yeah, d4's sound good for that. I think the official rules actually are that any effect changed to sonic or some other funky damage type actually *have* to drop one die type in power. Can't swear to it, but reasonably sure that that's true.

Would be quite interesting to see, though I'm not a huge dragon shaman fan. Are you considering doing the planar dragons as well?

Guh...

Christmas is hard on the senses... I need to get back to work now...

Granted class skills prove to be infuriating to me. I really can't decide on what each dragon should grant, though I have almost all other granted powers down now.

I did plan to do variants of all gem, planar, and those other wierd true dragons (song, brown, etc.), but I've been too busy (read "distracted" or "lazy") to really sit down and do it.

I'll have to put it on hold anyway. I have to finish at least one campaign setting so I can start DMing again... I said I'd do it, so I have to. Not that I don't want to, just I'm not ready.

*sigh*
