We had a party member become one of them were-a-magiggers and he was immune to attacks that were not from +1 or better weapon, that was in 2E D&D. Quite powerful for a low level player to have an ability like that. however with great power comes the curse of the shapechange and all the were creature instincts.

I originally decided NOT to have him infected with Lycanthropy, but it was brought to my attention later that the player who's character was bitten was complaining because he wasn't involved enough.

Well he's pretty F***ing involved now.

Dear god today was a disaster!

My players couldnt stop rolling 1's, and botching rolls if their lives depended on it....and it did.

Ok I left off in the marsh. they get up from camping to investigate some glowing lights in the distance.

They all make spot checks to stare directly at the lights..

It all goes downhill from here....

All but the human fighter get mesmerized by the glow, and start walking toward it off the path and into the swamp without control.

The Human Fighter follows behind trying to snap the others out of it, and in a genious display of moronic aptitude decides to push the rouge into the swamp to snap him out of it. Fighter heads down the slippery side of the path to push the rouge, and roles the first 1. rolls 1 again...DOH.

Fighter slips and goes face first into the swamp. He manages to get his upper torso stuck in the nasty mud on the marsh floor underwater, and the suction holds him down. He proceeds to try to pull himself free with strength checks, but he repeatedly botches role, after role, and after awhile begins to drown. Meanwhile the rest of the part is in a daze walking toward a large tree in the middle of the swamp.

Through sheer luck the Gnoll fighter breaks the spell, and realizes that the other fighter is stuck and needs help.

Another fiasco.

The gnoll cant roll much better, and after botching another batch of roles manages barely to pull the human fighter free. Not before the human fighter took a bunch of drowning damage, and has to spend the next 20 minutes or so recovering as he is now covered in muck, and cannot see.

about this time the rouge, and sorceress have reached the tree, and the mesmerizing spell has worn off. Too late I fear as the tree comes to life, and vines atempt to drag them under the water.

The Rouge narrowly escapes, but the sorceress is snaged and pulled under. The rouge makes a desperate leap to save her, and catches her by the arms. the rouge finally shows some rolling proficiancy and breaks the vines grip on her. he starts dragging her by the feet through the water away from the Tree. (meanwhile shes flailing like crazy.)

The rouge stops for a moment to make a check, and its just long enough that another vine snags the sorceress by the neck and yanks her out of the rouges grip.

You think this is bad? Just wait.

The rouge decides on a whim to throw a fire spell at the tree (through the sorceress) (Hes a multiclassed wizard/rouge) the spell nails the tree, and the sorceress sending both up in flames. The vine tosses the sorceress in pain from the fire, and sends her now burning body flying. She lands a few feet away at -8 hit points...shes about to die, unconcious, and face down in the water. Lucky for her the water puts out the fire.

Meanwhile the fighters get into a fight in character, and attack each other.
They wrestle around a bit, and noone really wins...eventually they give up the fight, and decide to try and help the sorceress. The rouge uses a unseen servant to drag her body back to dry land. The human fighter follows while the gnoll gets attacked himself by a crocadile. The gnoll makes short work of the croc, and the rouge moves away while the tree burns itself dead.

They all get back to the path, and they lose another day trying to recover from the attack. This session had 7 critical misses...it was rediculous.

In the end they all realize they have used up all their resources, and need to return to town to restock. they vote on it and agree to go back....

they make it back in one piece with the sorceress on a makeshift stretcher.

bloody hell.

Sounds like you're running a really exciting campaign Hida. Keep up the good work. Are you sure the city isn't overrun by dire badgers yet? :D

[WOMBAT], you're tough on pcs! hehehe.

Well, keep us up to date.

I bet they don't fall for that again (the lights), provided there is another tree, or that one didn't burn up!

I apologize to those aptly waiting, but I did not have a session this week, and wont have one next week, as I have a major L5R event to attend, and need to practice for it.

I also became a tournament organizer for the new Cyberpunk CCG, and have been busy with that...When it picks back up I'll let you know.

Thanks,

Gabriel

Too bad about the cancelled sessions Hida. Have fun at the L5R event and be sure to let us know how it goes.

Oh, and I crossed 300 posts the other day, so you can go mad with the posting again. ;)

Yeah, I mean, what's wrong? You've been posting as many posts as I do per day, in average. Is there something you're not telling us? You're not sick or something, are ya?

I mean, I have crushed you in post count! Where are you?
