Just out of curiousity does any one feel that features, monsters, magic items or classes that were in old additions should have been added to the newest. If so what were they.

Whats more I challenge us not just to [girlpuppy] about it but to instead start up dating those features to this new edition on this forum.

I don't know, the Jabberwocky can stay in 2nd ed where it belongs. Also, some of the classes can be remade in 3rd ed with the right combination of feats. Though I do feel some things could do well to be ported over. I would like to see the Yochlol (Handmaidens of Lolth) and some other Goodies ported over. What did you have in mind? We could start with the Scarlet Brother Hood from Greyhawk. They be my henchmen.

I don't really know the scarlet brother hood. But I was thinking that some of the old Character kits would make {WOMBAT} fine Prestige classes. I know they brought back the Dwarven Battlerager in the Races of Fearun book (though I have yet to pick it up) but what about the Dwarven Entertainer. It was very cool. A type of Bard specifically suited to the dwarven personality. Of course that may not require a prestige class but you get he idea.

More later.

There are two major items I would love to have updated versions of: Comeliness & Perception stats. Comeliness of course from the original 1E Unearthed Arcana, and Perception from an early dragon magazine.

A version of comeliness is included in The Guide to Erotic Fantasy (at least I think that's it's name) from the Valar Project, which I don't have yet, but I have yet to see an updated perception stat for 3E.

odd, I hated comeliness. I figured we already have Char. why confuse things? meh...
I can't think of much I'd like updated from older versions, except perhaps everything. A total revision of 3rd to fit better with 2nd might be good... but nothing specific....
Oh, of course. The old Cavalier class, that'd make an excellent PrC. That'd require remaking the Paladin as a PrC, but its so powerful anyway that it should be.

Comliness could just be the "Attractive Feat" from Mutants and Masterminds, while the Cavalier was in Sword and Fist under a diffrent name.

I've always felt a stat that was a combination of how you look and how you act was sort of unrealistic. I mean, it's quite possible for a person to be butt-ugly and still be a nice person. or maybe they're beautiful of face and foul and black of heart. Let's face it, most people first look at your comeliness to make the first split-second reaction. Then when they talk to you, they have your charisma to make another reaction.

Just my $.02 :)

yeah, but Char was sorta a combination so that the whole thing came together. I dunno, I just hated adding another stat to cover something so trivial when using char. works just as well.
But either way I deffinitely think that charisma as the base stat for the Sorcerer should be undone. Its just silly that skill with people would equate to spell use.

I have treated Charisma in 3rded + as a force of personailty or spirit, thats why you need a helluva Cha to be a Ghost. Just my 0.02$

Here is a group update project from 2nd edition that is forgotten and tossed aside like a broken toy, how about the WILD MAGE.

There was concept that was fun an interesting, that could be a Sorcerer prestige class with a large amount of tinkering. Using the chance for huge BOOM with the added chance of your character going BOOM too. How would we port that sucker over to 3.5?

Hmm. I do a lot of researching on new sourcebooks to add to the book index, for some reason I think there's a sourcebook or PDF sourcebook for 3E wild magic. If i can remember I'll try searching the various sources again.

I do like wild mages. My character Red, however, hates them. A wild mage surged a spell on her opponent, teleported 3 cubic tons of nonliving matter from around her to a random location. So there she was, in a 10' deep hole, naked, weaponless, beating the crap out of a gnoll with her bare fists. I believe the 3 tons of dirt & clothing ended up in a bar somewhere... One of those defining campaign moments. :cussing:

Wild mages - I gotta love them - I did play one way way back in the day and I do think they should be updated in 3.5. they are very spontanieous, I know my spelling is horrific, and although they somtimes get bad results they sometimes come in quite handy.

I do recall my char almost killing a party member by accidently opening a 20 foot pit under him when he was actually try'n to make him levitate. Thought it was disasterous in the begining - getting him out of the pit built a strong bond between the party member which is priceless hehehe

hey ummm did every one just forget about skills and powers or something
they already had a lot of ways to cheeze out your cha they had updated rules for the druid mage etc including a small explanition of comeliness and charisma and a little info on the old honer status of knights and paladins
and what they did in game play as always d+d2nd ed and 1st ed was a cut and paste game that in every group i was in or was a gm had diff rules and also diff players wanted diff things so as always you dont always have to go by the book i dont and never will i mean how many people use the rules for weapon type vrs armor type rules sounds like real fun huh
