Don't forget, you can always make new spells for each side to have (to speed up battles) just don't let players use them unless if you are positive that they work great.
Wanted: Subplot Ideas for a War Campaign

well right now i have completed the "history of the war"
here it is:
Over the past 3 centuries wars between phancoff (the "evil" city) and Guinnrld (the city the PCs start in) have been very common. These wars started when the ruler of the known world had passed away. Not knowing who to give the world to, he gave each son one of the major cities on the main island. Raclyn, the youngest son of the king and great great grandfather to king Couvier, received the capital, Guinnrld. Kodar, the great great grandfather of Ogfra, felt this to be unfair. Kodar beleived that he should have gotten it because he was the oldest. Kodar formed a coalition to try to overthrow Raclyn and take over Guinnrld. After Kodar's failed attempt to overthrow, and then assassinate, his brother he was banished from Guinnrld forever. Once banished Kodar returned to his city and vowed vengence against his brother. After a few years Kodar attacked Guinnrld in a last effort to take what was his, in his mind. When Raclyn had gotten word that Kodar was attacking he sent for help. The only person that accepted to this desperate plea was his other brother Atyod. The battles between Phancoff and Guinnrld waged on until 3 generaions ago. The three, now distant, cousins decided that enough people have suffered. This peace has flowed throughout the lands for a full century. During this century the lands flourished and new technology was produced, like the balista clip and the automatic crossbow(i'll explain later). Thsi peace remained unbroken until now. Rumors have been spreading that Ogfra has found his old family records and wants to take, what he thinks to be, rightfully his, Guinnrld.
if you guys have any ideas on what to add .. especially in those empty spots that i have.. tell me.
Now as for the automatic crossbow. it is going to be alot like the repeating crossbow except for a few things:
#1) there will be no accuracy depletion on multiple shots
#2) it will have a slightly longer range
The way that i see it in my head is it'll be a crossbow with a handle on the bottom. you know the older shot guns with the "loop" underneath .. the thing that you pull forward to reload.... im not very good at describing this. any way, as you pull the loop forward it resets the string into the proper postion. As you pull it back to where it originally was a hook pulls down and sets the next bolt.
