As some of you may know, I've been rebuilding my entire campaign setting from scratch. I've been making entries in my forum blog detailing my ideas and progress so far. I thought I'd make a forum post about it to try and get some feedback/criticisms/faults/input on these ideas. So here we go:

I must say I rather like your idea for your cosmology. That's a pretty cool setup and should spur plenty of quests, plots, intrigue, politics, etc. Definitely a keeper.
This technique of RPG playing has been passed down the Bloodmooon line for generations!

6. Source Planes

This is a very important part of my world building process, nearly moreso than the actual material planes themselves because it has a major effect on which planes have access to magic and to what levels.
Criticisms/comments/suggestions are wanted for this one the most.

Also, I need some help with the advantages to controlling a natural, direct link to a Source Plane.
So far I'm thinking:
1. Spellcasters can channel the pure energy (Spellcraft DC X) to cast spells without using up their regular spell per day slots.
2. Channeling of pure energy to contribute to the Spellcraft DC of an epic spell. This is one I'm worried about, especially in terms of how it can be abused.
3. Channeling of pure magical energy to enchant magical items faster/stronger/cheaper etc.
And that's where I start drawing blanks.
Basically, controlling the area around a natural, direct link to a Source Plane means that spellcasters are close enough to the pure magical energy of the Source Plane to allow them to channel is using Spellcraft. The problem I'm having is finding uses for this pure energy. Anyone have any ideas?

It all looks good. I would make some sort of penalty for failing the Spellcraft check, though. Perhaps take the DC in damage? Something nasty so that inexperienced spellcasters will avoid it and experienced ones will be wary of it.

As for other things you can do with links, how about gain enough power to create minor artifacts? After all, this is pure magic you are channeling into the item. You could also have free metamagics to a point. Perhaps free extend, enlarge, heighten, maximize, enhanced, etc. Perhaps the number of spell levels of increase = the increase in DC. Also, consider allowing casters to cast spells of a higher level than they are normally capable. That's an easy way to "overchannel."

Again, I suggest, though, that there be a major penalty for failing the Spellcraft check.

Yes more universal mechanics.

Can anybody comment on this particular entry's integrity? Any questions that need to be answered about the creation of Deities and races? This is one part of my game world that I want to be as solid as possible.

The Planes: Odds and Ends

Just some stuff that I didn't really cover elsewhere.

I also have 2 requests.
1. If you are going to adapt any unique part of my cosmology for your own game world, please tell me. Raven is alright :P
2. A Spanish Inquisition about my universal set up. It doesn't need to be the 100 question+ epic like in Rin's game world's topic, but questions about anything I haven't covered would be appreciated.
