actually there is a feat that can make a spellcaster a healer.
complete divine. pg 84-85. which contains healer wounder, and summoner.
also if you wish to by-pass the whole sorcerers and metafeat problem look into unearth arcana. pg. 151 spont. metamagic, it talks about using metamagic on the spot for wizards and be standard action for both sorcerer.
the reason i use this method is cause: one, you dont have worry about getting your rear handed to you during war and two i like the spell point method.
also i know alot of things about using spell casters so please if you have a problem with how to use them ask me i know how to make them fun a abusive.

The prerequisites for those feats require you to be able to cast Cure, Inflict, or Summon Nature's Ally spells. Only a bard could take them, and he can already spontaneously cast Cure spells.
In Player's Handbook II (page 60) the sorcerer has a variant called "metamagic specialist", which allows him to give up the ability to gain a familiar and, in return, be able to use any metamagic feat he knows without increasing the casting time. Don't know if it was already mentioned or not.

Well, of course you could just research a cure-like spell as a arcane caster. And hey, any spell blown on healing is a spell wasted on the good stuff, so it's not unbalanced.
That, or you could take Arcane Diciple (healing).
I'm sure I can think of a few other things. Regardless, a cure spell is a bad move for a sorcerer anyways.
Although if you allow them to change out a spell every level, I'd say Go For It!

I'm prepared to passionately argue this point until nothing makes sense anymore!- RM

There is also a feat in "complete arcana" that allow a sorcerer to preapare some spells and that way he could could use quicken spell if he likes. I think that if the wizard didn't have bonus feats then he was underpowered next to the sorcerer but with the bonus feats they are quite equal. The wizard still have the advantage of getting spell levels faster than the sorcerer.
I wish only only happiness, good luck and health to all of you.
