Heya guys, I have come to realize that the planet the humans live on in my campaign has yet to be named. And for that matter, no homeworld has yet to be named. Here are a list of home planets that need names; any help would be greatly appreciated. I am open to names from any culture.

Human -
Elf -
Dragon -
Glaoming -
Drow -
Dwarf -
Gnome -

Human - Gaiterra
Elf - Sylavanae
Dragon - Arc'tassimox
Glaoming - Hachin
Drow - Zerrbazo
Dwarf - Messiyat
Gnome - Gondivox

Some completely made up, some are blendings of various Latin words (and some are just given random suffix).

Why not try names that make some degree of sense?

Human - Terra
Elf - Sylvan
Dragon - Draconia
Glaoming - Glaom
Drow - D'wor
Dwarf - Frawd
Gnome - Moeng

Ok, so I ran out of ideas towards the end.

You could also do something like the Greeks did and name planets after gods or elemntal forces. Axel's suggestions make the most sense to me as they suit as planet names but also make alot of sense regarding the make up of the planets' terrains

With the exception of the last three, and I will probably go with that. Now Axel, I know you are more creative than to simply just reverse the letters of the creature. Come on, man!

Btw, the Gloaming is in the Underdark book.

What was nonsensical about the names I offered?

The first two were pretty straightforward (really not even any different than the ones you posted, just given an original spin). The third was built on the syllable structures and tendancies of Draconic. The fourth was something that sounds consistent with the Glaoming personality. The fifth was based on the fact that a lot of drow cities have a 'z' in there at some point (Menzoberranzan, anyone?). The Dwarves? Mesa with a unique suffix. Gnomes? Gnomish name with Latin vox on the end (since Gnomes seem inclined to learn other's languages, and they make up a ton of words).

I don't speak latin. Anyway, seemed like it made the most sense to name the race (in the human tounge, at least) after the planet. Or, in our case, vice-versa. Sadly I just couldn't think of one for Dwarf, Gnome, etc.

How's this:
Drow: Row (d'row, "of Row"?)
Dwarf: Mijet (floundering here)
Gnome: Mich'kyne (I give up)

In my campaign world I named the planes after gods. This is fairly simple and it makes sense that when people (say, cosmologists) discover a plane, something so huge and important, they give it a name after a god. This name can be of: a) The god the discoverer worships, or B) A god that the plane most represents, which would be the patron deity of the population (the dwarf plane could be named after Moradin, the elves after Corellon, etc).
By Divine Right, Hail and Kill.

Planets, so it would be astronomers who first named them. And astrocartographers who discovered there was someone there.

Just thinking about Shadowkami's post, the different races of the different planets could have a different name for each other plant. For example, lets say the dwarven planet is very rocky and humans name it 'Rocky' (for an examples sake) but the dwarves always called it Moradin after their creator while the Elves always called it the elvish word for hills.
Probably needless but if you felt like it you could. Perhaps for pre inerterplantetary travel references/purposes

It's true that Planets are most commonly named after the gods worshipped by the inhabitants, even Earth was originally named Tellus (After a Roman goddess).

The general rule is to name Planets and orbiting Satellites after Roman gods & goddesses, so in this case the use of the local deities is the most logical.

However, since this is your campaign and not the Solar System, you have complete free-reign over this

It should be noted that if this is interstellar travel most astronomers (or astrologers, depending on the circumstance) will have no knowledge of the planets themselves, only the star. It could well happen that the planet is named for its star. The local name would only be adopted once the locals were encountered.
