Remember that thread: What if you wre a D&D character? Time to put up or shut up people.

I want everyone to put up their "Alter Ego" stat sheets, complete with in game statistics and background/history/etc.

This is character is supposed to be *You* in the game world. If you could be anyone and have done anything, who would you be? What has seperated you from the rest? and most importantly: Why?

Some rules need to be implace, however, and here they are:

Character Level Limit: 40 (I would prefer 20, but i know how much some of you love your epics) This inludes LA, (so no Half Dragon lvl 40 Fighter, for example)

Gp Limit: Standard for your level, straight out of the DMG, although there is no limit as to how much a single item can cost, within your limit

Sources: Any published Source, anything not WOTC should be listed

Some kind of back story

And i think its fair to say that we as a group, are not min/maxers, I dont expect to see 18's across the board for all stats, or anything like that. As to backstory, Please, no: "I conquered the world" (while this is perfectly reasonable, got to explain it at least!)

Hope to see some good Character's. I look forward to seeing *You* in whatever alternate persona you choose to take.

(By the way, if enough people get tgether on this, ill reward with some gp, or a prize, or sometihng along those lines: winner is the most detailed, engrossing, and most thought out)

Good Luck
I'm prepared to passionately argue this point until nothing makes sense anymore!- RM

He began life as the simple son of a farmhand, as many of the greatest heroes do. He eventually discovered his innate magical talent when he saw his best friend being taken by a Succubus, the next day the remnants of both the Succubus, and his friend, were plastered on the roofs of the village
He was banished soon after, despite his obvious talent for the arcane arts. He was the victim of many an evil plot, and for a time studied under a student of Mordenkainen himself, learning every arcane spell he could, and adding new creations of his own to his repertoire. Upon his graduation, he was granted the wondrous armor he still wears to this day.
At 27 years old, this young prodigy of the arcane arts travels the lands seeking adventure, excitement, and knowledge. He was previously a member of the infamous Gleaners, hunters of artifacts and powerful magic items, but no longer claims any allegiance to them after a disagreement about policy.
It had boiled down to the situation that he had apparently stolen from the Penultimate Vault, and he was either to leave and return the item, or to be expelled. The answer was never discovered, but he was never seen near the Gleaners comfortably thereafter
After his exit from the Gleaners, he began wandering about the world, exploring mostly, and using his fortress as his portable home.

Excellent idea RedSlayer. I'll get to work on my character sheet tomorrow. The background could take a bit of time, but we'll see what happens.

Just a quick clerification with regard to gold piece limits:

The DMG only has gold piece suggestions for up to level 20 characters. For those levels between 21 and 40, there is no progression.

If I may so humbly suggest, I have extrapolated a progression that seems reasonable for epic levels without going too overboard:

21...............1,020,000
22...............1,360,000
23...............1,800,000
24...............2,340,000
25...............2,980,000
26...............3,720,000
27...............4,560,000
28...............5,500,000
29...............6,540,000
30...............7,680,000
31...............8,920,000
32...............10,260,000
33...............11,700,000
34...............13,240,000
35...............14,880,000
36...............16,620,000
37...............18,460,000
38...............20,400,000
39...............22,440,000
40...............24,580,000

For those interested in how I derived that, I am including my reasoning below. Feel free to comment.

---------Warning: What Follows Is Potentially Boring and Unecessarily Confusing---------

Upon examining the non-epic progression, I noticed that over the last 5 or so levels (15 - 20), the increase in wealth was equal to 2^[(Level-10)/2 (rounded up)]*10,000. If I were to extend this progression out over the following twenty levels, the resulting increase in wealth from level 39 to 40 would have been some 10,737,418,240,000 gp. This is actually more gold that Ssri and Darius have combined. As a result, I threw out this method, as it seems to yield more wealth than even Bahamut probably has.

I then considered a non-exponential increase in rate of acquisitions, but this yeilds similar problems. Finally, I settled on increasing the rate of acquisition of wealth by 80,000 at 21st and 22nd level (the same rate as at 20th level), and then upped it to 100,000 per level from 23rd level up. This would allow a character sufficient income to build and maintain a moderate stronghold if so desired and purchase most magical equipment (and considering Epic levels, magical gear should not be too much of an issue).

Remember that I am refering to the rate of increase in acquisition of wealth. Not the increase in wealth from level to level. For those math geeks out there, that would be the second derivative, not the first.

I guess i will clarify some, i think my first post was a bit comfusing.

Sources: you may use ANY published source, and if it not Wizards of the Coast material, it should definately be sited.

Gold Limit: Straight out of the Epic Level Hand book. Table 1-23, page 23. lvl 40 characters have a gp cap of 13,600,000 for refernce.

Anythin else? nope, think that covered it. I look forward to seeing these. I myself am torn, think it might be my split personalities...

How would you factor in our own little creations into the GP limit? Many of the "items" that I would "have" can be considered "priceless." I am mostly talking about artifacts here, which usually don't have a sale price.

Maximum of listed artifacts, non-home brew, is ECL/15, rounded up. (level 40= 3)

Homebrew items are based in price by item creation.

Remember guys, its not about what items you carry, but by whats inside of you! Namely 8 Chain lightnings ready to go.....

Hey! My method was only 11,000,000 gp off! I was close! :P Btw, thanks. I don't know why I didn't see that. And I plan on posting my alterego as soon as I have worked him up properly. I am still outlining his history before I go nuts "buying" items. I hope to post in the next couple days, work providing.

Languages: English, Nebraskan, Spanish

Spells Known (6/3; Save DC 11 + Spell Level): Wait, you mean I have magic?

Bardic Music: As the bard ability

Bardic Knowledge: As the bard ability

Eagle Scout (Ex): You gain a +5 bonus to Survival checks. You also automatically fail any Use Rope check (I’ve found that an endless, cancerous mess of rope has the same function as a knot - my troop named this method in honor of its discoverer, and the Laski Special survives to this day).

College Student (Ex): Once every six months you must donate every scrap of money you have to the Bank Account Deathsquad. Actually, you don’t even need to donate it, they’ll take it anyway. The end result is the same – you don’t get to have money. Or the yeti comes in the night to steal your spleen if you ever acquire enough to consider it a gold piece.

Born and raised in the little-known fiefdom of Nebraska, Dthclaw quickly discovered at the age of 10ish that he was capable of doing more than the average Nebraskan. He would lead the oppressed to overthrow the tyranny of sixth grade and lead his fellow serfs to victory over the class down the hall. Then he realized how stupid that was and went back to trying to be something feasible. He found that he had a talent for writing, and the tuba after four years struggling on the trumpet. A few years in martial arts (came so [WOMBAT] close to black belt), a few years of school, and it was time to be off in search of adventure. Well, if by "adventure" you mean "go to class every day."

Yes, I know this is a necro-post, but I finally got around to finishing it up.
