Best mapping program?

I draw dungeon/city maps by hand on graph paper. Pad of a few hundred sheets is only about $15, lasts practically forever.

World maps I use Fractal Terrains, export the result as JPEG and do some creative uses with MSWord.

Actually can make some pretty spectacular world/continent maps with only twenty minutes work.

Now I just need to figure out how to lay a hex/square grid on top...

Autorealm is okay I guess. Its supposed to "easily" do things but its hard as hell! Well I'm on spring break so maybe I will play around with it.
