(Note to mods: I didn't know if this should go here or in D&D General forum.. so if it's in the wrong place, please put it where it should be. :) )

Well, I think the title is fairly simple.. Who's your favorite D&D Hero, from Forgotten Realms, Eberron, whatever.. could be from a novel, or just described in a sourcebook somewhere..

For me, it would have to be Cadderly.. If you don't know him, he's from the Cleric Quintet series of novels by R. A. Salvatore.. Cadderly starts out as a fledgeling priest, smart as a whip but.. sometimes too much. He didn't exactly get encouraged by his superiors.. In the end, he basically redefines the order of Deneir and dedicates his life to building a monument to the Gods.. a cathedral named Spirit Soaring.

So, anyone else have any favorite characters?

My fave would have to be Woe =P
The most worthless line of any RPG book EVER:

My favorite character would have to be either Mat Cauthorn or Perrin Aybara, both from the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Rand al'Thor is cool too but he is just too powerful in my opinion.

I don't think it would be possible for me to choose. Too many voices pulling me in varying directions.

Well, name some that you like, then, Schizo. It was pretty hard for me to chose. I mean I gotta admit Pikel is awesome... and so is Bruenor and Ivan. I like Dwarvish characters, incase you didn't notice. ^_^

I think you an I could get along rather well. I am the flaming dwarf afterall.
First dwarven DnD character: Flint Ironfist (Flint from Dragonlance).

My first favorite character was Cadderly, and in some ways, he still is. But i feel that because the Cleric Quintet was the first DnD book I read, I might be pulled in that directon due to some bit of nostalgia of those days when my eyes were first opened to the realms of fantasy. I also like the streetwise youth Jimmy the Hand from the Krondor books. Lierel, Gromph, Drizzt, Jarlaxle, and Zaknafein are some of my favorite drow. As for the dwarves, Ivan and Pikel, Bruenor, Flint, and the dwarven list goes on. Harkle Harpel and Regis are some of the funniest. I didn't mention anything from Tolkien because they're all just too good. Much like the DnD genre, many of my favorites seem to share a common beginning with the heroes of Middle Earth. As i mentioned before, pulled in all directions.

Um, he's not asking about favorite characters, he's asking about "who's your favorite NPC that appeared in a campaign setting?"

My favorite hero is from Dragon Lance, it would be Raistlin the mage.

Time to add to the list. From WotSQ my favorite would have to be Phaerun. (Wizard Drow.)

Jaraxle definitely ranks up there among my favorite Drow though, as does Drizzt (*points near his avatar area*)

I like them all for their own reasons though. Phaerun because of his sarcastic attitude and witty retorts. Drizzt because of his morals and being a goody-hero. Jaraxle for being clever and unique among the Drow.

Also, out of Dragonlance, I definitely like Caramon and Tanis. I'm not so sure on Raistlin, still going through Legends, so we'll see.

Mine would have to be Cadderly - the way Salvatore wrote his coming-of-age and the way he accepted his powers was great...seeing the character evolve from a book-smart young man to a mature representative of Deneir was what hooked me on that character...

...for non-D&D it would have to be Jon Snow from the Song of Fire & Ice series by George R.R. Martin...for those who haven't read them (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, etc) I highly recommend them...very low-magic, high-intrigue fantasy tale...
