Month of Tempests, 24th day, 440
After waking up, freshing up and swiping breakfast, I decide to check on some rumors I heard about the Northside Nomads trying to weasle in on my turf. There's no way in hell I'm letting that happen! While checking on my turf I run into Mordryth. He's on a shopping trip to make dinner for his family. Mordryth is a ace cook, so I decide to help him. I have some "connections" that we can get some premium stuff at slightly cheaper prices. Slightly illegal...alright downright illegal, but if I can help him save some coin it'll mean a free well cooked meal tonight. And you can't beat that.
Only problem is we didn't get very far. On the way to my connection we run into what looks like a kidnapping in progress in a back alley. I hadn't heard of any job like this being pulled on my turf, especially without my o.k. And kidnapping? Not something I dable in and not something I'm going to let happen on my watch. The fact that the kidnappees are cute chicks doesn't hurt either. They're about 7 kidnappers. Maybe a bit much for me and Mordryth to take on, but just then a bunch of Johnny-come-lately's stroll around the corner. They decide to play upstanding citizens and jump in. We take em on. I take one down with my magic missle spell and someone takes another down. One of the would be rescuers gets unlucky and gets knocked out from behind. Then all of a sudden all of em fall down and start sawing logs. Just like that. Then Mordryth shoots off a magic missle at someone or something, at what I have no idea and I didn't get a chance to ask because just then I fell asleep and join the rest of the lumberjacks in training. Next thing I know I'm awake at the stockades. And not in a cell which is a first for me. I didn't even have to hear the three words I hate: Your under arrest.
After cleaning up the cobwebs from my head we learn from one of the chicks that was getting ambushed that she was guarding the govenor's daughter who happened to get kiddnapped in the process. The govenor's daughter?!? What the hell was she doing in Southside?!? I seriously doubt it was for sight seeing. And only one guard? In southside? Who was the genius who thought that was a good idea? Dumbass. The guard who was protecting the girl introduced herself as Shara, a cleric charged with protecting the govenor's daughter. She asks if we will help her find her. To make matters worse the govenor's daughter is betrothed to marry the captain of the guard. Greaaat. We decided to help but wanted to get some info out of two of the kidnappers they had jailed. I lay into em hard to get em to talk. The one guy doesn't budge at all. Doesn't bat ana eye or break a sweat. The other is twitching worse than a deadman on his last breath. He spills the beans and more. They're going to need a mop in here. His friend snaps and says he's a dead man. Sucks to be him. We manage to have the captain agree to release him to us when we head out. Which could be either good or bad. Till then Shara invites us to dinner, her treat. Not one to pass up a free meal we go to get some grub.
At dinner we say our hello's and get to know each other. There's Mordryth who I've known for ever. He's a learned wizard which means he goes to school to learn his magic, unlike me who just seems to be able to do it without learning. He's a bit uppity and can be a bastard, but he's ok by me. And if you get some booze in him he's a laugh. The others I try to size up. Opal looks like a sailor or a pirate. She practicaly leaped out of her clothes to help when Shara asked. Don't know what's up with that but I wouldn't have minded seeing that. Carlin, a locksmith, looks like someone just killed his puppy or something. For being a ranger, Gwailen seems pretty stuffy to me. As we're chatting it up and waiting for our food I decide to use my mojo on the serving girl. She may be putting up a front, but I can tell she digs me. We get our food and I dig in. I haven't had anything since this morning since I swiped a scone earlier this morning. Ive never been to this inn or had their food before, but it sure is spicey. Spicey but good. After dinner Gwailen and Opal head out for the night. Mordryth and me head for our rooms. Mordryth hits the books to study. I hit the sack to dreamland.
