It's not as simple or as easy as it seems. It can be really complicated and sort of [FLOPPED] up. Especially on the streets of Swansy. On the streets of Swansy there's sort of a honorable (if you want to use the word) guide to fighting. Let me give ya some examples.
Example 1: Your drinking a nice cool ale at your favorite watering hole. Some bloke gets knocked into you or just pushes into you. Your not in the mood to deal with idiots and just lash out and start pounding his head in. He returns the feelings. Ya both use fists, chairs, bottles. Hell you might even pull a weapon. Pretty much everything is fair game in a spontanous brawl. It's kind of tough to say "Excuse my sir. Before we get down to the sport of fist-a-cuffs, let us lay down some ground rules." when your already swallowing blood and teeth. Best thing to do is be the last man standing. If your not involed in the fight the best thing to do is not get involved and place bets.
Example 2: Some one comes up to you (or you to them). He/she (or you) doesn't like what you said about their (or your) momma. Words are being said. Your up in each others faces. A fights going down, but it going be civilised-ish. Here's how it works: After all the pissing and shitting some one is going issue a challage. Who ever is getting challenged can either decline it because their a [ENVELOPE] (or because the challenger ain't worth it) or except it. If the challenge is excepted the person being challengend gets to decide what the ground rules are going be. Skin on skin, weapon, mob pits or any other creative way of bashing someone's head in. The sky's the limit. There is one area that's sort of a no-no. Magic.
For the most part magic is kinda of banned. It's not that it's bad or cosidered cowardly. It's just sort of considered as an unfair advantage. In a brawl (especialy a big one with more then 2 people) it's not cosidered that bad of rule break with the honorable unofficial/official guide to fighting. It'll still be frowned apon, but at least you don't have to worry about reprecusions. A challenge fight on the other hand is different. Unless it's anything goes rule or it's stated magic is allowed you got no worries. If not and you break it your in deep. You have to pay some way. Wheither in treasure, rep or face. And if your caught with magic items your in really deep [BROWNIES] as they're considered cheating. Even if magic is allowed all magic items on you got to go.
So as the world blinks back from pure white and I see the stooge coming at me I have to think quick. The way the fight went down you can basicly can call it a challege fight even though Jarin got in the middle of the begining of it. Sure I let loose with the magic missle on instinct, but no one would buy that. The positice of this though is that the only ones in the bar are the stooge and my "gang". The stooge ain't got no witnesses saying I used magic. The fact he is a stooge also helps as now one will take him serious and he's got zero pull. The negative is I broke the guide lines and I honor the guild lines...most of the time. In this instance I should have. I basicly challenged him. Even though no rules were set it should have been considerd fist on fist and nothing else. To pay for breaking the guild lines I take resposibilities for my action. I swallow my pride and do one of the toughest things in my life.
I let him kick the [BROWNIES] out of me without fighting back and throw the fight.
