Today's Menu: Rabbits, love birds, and tough luck

Month of Tempests, 29th day, 440

I wake up to the smell of something cooking and the sound of an argument. Looks like Gwailen caught some rabbits and was going to start cooking them, but Mordryth caught the way he was cooking them and wasn't impressed. To make sure they're cooked right Mordryth takes over the task from Gwailen. I know Mordryth can be uppitty and a bastard a lot of times, but when it comes to preparing and cooking food he's a ace. It's one of his studies along with magic. Give him enough to work with and he can make something spectacular.

As we're eating, our two guests finally wake up. The girl rushes over to Ben Grad's arms, who finally found enough time to stop hovering over her like a fly over [BROWNIES]. The fat guy Mordryth recognizes as Zorin, a spice merchant he deals with.

After breakfast a discussion starts, by who I forgot, about whether we should take the girl back or not. Opal thinks we should just let the love birds go and let the girl and Ben Grad sort it out later with their families on their own time. Gwailen is on this same train of thought too. Mordryth isn't. His feelings is that we've been hired by the Capt of the Guard, her fiancee no less, through the city to bring her back. Not by Ben Grad. So Ben can get bent (my words). It's out of the question. He's for bringing her back. I'm with Mordryth but with a different way of seeing it. I can see us coming back to the Captain empy handed and he decides to make our lives a living hell, or worse arrest us on the spot. Especially me. He wouldn't think twice about doing that. I'll be [darned] if I'm going to jail for Ben Grad just so he can get some [ENVELOPE]. To hell with that.

The deciding vote comes down to Carling, since Shara seems mum on the subject. He understands the plight of Ben Grad and his love, but he's under obligation to the city to bring her back. By not bringing her back would create problems for him and his family who own a buisness in the city. And he can't risk that. Gwailen and Opal aren't from the city or live in it so the reprecusions for them would be minimal. For him he has a lot to lose. Opal and Gwailen understand and agree that we bring her back, as we're obligated by the city. Hey, it sucks. It's tough luck. What are you going to do about it?
